What Euphemisms Do You Have for Vomiting?
Ok....this popped into my head while I was having my weekly puke fest. I once did an article at News Vine about euphemisms for sex and I thought....ya know....there's an awful lot of words/phrases for vomiting.
Since I'm doing beta testing and I promised no heavy stuff this is my first foray into publishing here at Beta Testers.
Only one rule....Have fun.
Wait....another rule...don't laugh til you puke

"Did you find something, Margie?"
"No! Just thought I had to barf!"
Made too merry last night?
No, about once a week my acid reflux rares up rather badly and I have to puke.
Sounds like my life
You know I have a nice voice, just cannot seem to get the timing right on my delivery. That is why I became a physical comic.
Worked out great for the bros - especially Groucho.
Pointless comment about nothing
(silence … my best line)
Go ahead and delete me.
Do I get any special reward for taunting the group moderator?
I'm waiting for someone to flag you...then I'll come get you.
You wouldn't happen to be my very good friend TiG would you?
Oh...I'm going to flag a comment of yours just for testing purposes because I can't flag one of my own
(shhh)
This is hilarious, Giggles. Poor kitteh. (grin)
My term for vomiting is an old Southern term, ripping.
Do you have a favorite phrase or word for vomiting?
I have several
There are all sorts of terms for 'clearing the stomach', so to speak. My Mother used the term 'topsy', for whatever reason. She said it was so as not to make something that is a natural bodily function sound to disgusting to children and they would not feel ashamed. Also, so that if we needed to toss our cookies out in public we could let her know in a way that would not be a put off to others around us.
It worked well for me as a kid, so I used the same term for my own kids. (shrug)
I think we used barf a lot when I was a kid
I think barf was pretty much the standard term for vomiting, but, using barf out in public seemed to make people around you panic, as they didn't want to be in the line of fire. My Mother also carried a 'barf bag' with her at all times when we were little in case the urge hit us unexpectedly out in public we and no time to get to a bathroom. That came in handy on a few occasions, and I did the same thing with my little ones for the same reason. Thankfully, neither of my two were prone to weak stomachs, so the occasions were where such emergencies happened were few.
Carrying a bag around is a really good idea! I never thought of that when I had little ones, but if I ever become a grandparent I will definitely take this advice
Believe me, it can be worth its weight in gold, and then some when the need arises. (grin)
I want to say thanks to you all for the flags. Now I have an understanding of how the flagging thingy works.
It is a subset of the flagging system used by the site moderators.
I saw that and did not know what to make of it—now I do! HA! That dog committed a "bad deal."
Here is a beautie.. blowing chunks
Or as Mr Giggles likes to say..."blow chow"
The best I have in English is "upchucking". But I have several in French.
That's probably significant...
It's not only the visual effect of the act, but, the audio that goes with it is really enough to make you want to join them.
I'm a barfing kind of gal. Also, I love the Irish "Heevah".
